President Nikolic: Serbia contributes greatly to regional stability
BELGRADE - With its determination to solve the Kosovo issue, Serbia has contributed greatly to the region's stability, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said Monday in a meeting with Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
Nikolic noted that stability in the South East Europe region is one of the priorities of the Serbian leadership.
He said Serbia has made a major contribution to this stability over the past year by showing determination to solve the Kosovo issue once and for all, through talks and compromise from both sides.
Nikolic expressed expectation Serbia will get a date for opening EU accession talks at the end of June and wished Macedonia success in completing its EU accession.
Prime Minister Gruevski said relations between Serbia and Macedonia have always been at a high level, but noted they can be further improved, especially in the economic arena.
He said he believes Serbia and Macedonia have fulfilled all criteria for starting EU accession talks and added the two countries should continue to cooperate in the process.
