LISBON - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said in Lisbon on Wednesday he wanted his visit to be a turning point marking a new era in the relations between Serbia and Portugal, noting that the two countries could forge better economic cooperation.

"My great wish is to make this visit, together with my friend Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, a turning point marking a new era in the relations between Serbia and Portugal in which we will create a better future for all our citizens through joint work and efforts," Nikolic told reporters after a meeting with De Sousa.

Nikolic: Taci's statements should be concern for Europe

LISBON - Accusing Serbia of wanting to annex the north of Kosovo-Metohija is completely absurd - that is impossible because Kosovo-Metohija is already a part of Serbia, Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic told Portugal's Diario de noticias daily in an interview.

"The so-called independence, which has unfortunately been recognised by some countries, including Portugal, is contrary to all the principles of international law the contemporary human civilisation rests upon," said Nikolic, who is on a two-day visit to Portugal.
