Official three-day visit of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping

Belgrade, 13 June 2016- President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping will be making an official three-day visit to the Republic of Serbia, between 17 and 19 June 2016, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic.

During the first day of the visit, President Tomislav Nikolic and President Xi Jinping will lay the cornerstone for the construction of the Chinese Cultural Centre and unveil the monument to Confucius, as well as the plate of the newly-named Confucius Street and the Serbia-China Friendship Square. On the occasion, the two Presidents will lay the wreaths at the memorial in honour of the officials of the Embassy of China, who fell victims to the 1999 NATO bombing.

The meeting between the President of the Republic of Serbia and the President of the People’s Republic of China is scheduled for the second day of the visit, followed by the two delegations’ bilateral meeting. Numerous inter-state agreements of extreme importance for the Republic of Serbia will be signed after the said meeting.

President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic will decorate President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping with the Order of the Republic of Serbia on a Grand Collar.

After the presentation ceremony, President of the People’s Republic of China will meet Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and the members of the delegations, as well as the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic.

On the third day of the visit, President Tomislav Nikolic and President Xi Jinping will visit Železara Smederevo (Smederevo Steelworks), hosted by Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.
