Belgrade, 20 December 2012 - President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic met today in Belgrade with the new Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, His Excellency Peter Burkhard.
During the talks, President Nikolic said that the assistance provided to Serbia by international organizations in achieving the highest governance standards was invaluable. In this regard, he particularly emphasized the assistance in fighting corruption and crime. Also, President Nikolic said that Serbia was committed to establishing better relations in the region, and that the task of the current government would be to make Serbia an organized country during its mandate, more organized than it had been before.
Ambassador Peter Burkhard expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the state authorities of our country and the OSCE Mission to Serbia, expressing the readiness of the OSCE to work together with Serbia on the reforms that the Serbian Government intended to implement. Although not directly involved, the OSCE, an organization having an interest for stability in Europe, supported the dialogue between the state authorities of Serbia and the provisional institutions in Pristina. Also, Ambassador Burkhard has expressed his satisfaction that he will be able to cooperate, in the coming period, with the state authorities of the Republic of Serbia.
