General Secretariat
The General Secretariat of the President of the Republic of Serbia is the service which provides expert and technical support to the President of the Republic.
The General Secretariat is made up of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic and the Office of Secretary General of the President of the Republic. The General Secretariat is led by the Secretary General of the President of the Republic who is appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic.
Secretary General in leading the General Secretariat has the same responsibilities as a minister in leading a ministry and is in charge of expenditures of means for the work of the President of the Republic and the General Secretariat. The Secretary General of the President of the Republic passes the rulebook on internal organization and systematization of job positions within the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic for which the President of the Republic give preliminary approval. The Secretary General has a deputy which he proposes himself and who is appointed and dismissed by the President of the Republic.
Within the General Secretariat of the President of the Republic the following tasks are carried out:
- cooperation with other governmental bodies, autonomous territories, municipalities, cities and the City of Belgrade;
- advisory and analytical tasks from the area of constitutional-legal and economic issues, defense and security, foreign policy, briefings;
- protocol tasks;
- legal-normative tasks, financial-material tasks and other operational tasks related to the use of general acts, the interpretation of items, petitions and complaints, pardoning, the use of decisions and resolutions and hosting visitors, and
- administrative-office, technical, assistance (tasks of the Records Office and Archive, hospitality tasks, driving tasks, technical maintenance of the building) and other expert and technical tasks of significance for carrying out the function of the President of the Republic.
The Cabinet of the President of the Republic is led by the Head of Cabinet of the President of the Republic and all advisors, Protocol of the President of the Republic and the Press Service of the President of the Republic work within the framework of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic,
In the Office of the Secretary General of the President of the Republic, among other things, they perform tasks which pertain to the use of general acts which are brought by the Secretary General, process items which pertain to pardoning and requests of citizens, procedures of public acquisitions, general and administrative tasks, financial-material tasks, tasks which pertain to realizing the rights of the President of the Republic in payment and other right from work, rights of the spouse of the President of the Republic and right of the former President of the Republic in the sense of the law, as well as other tasks of significance for carrying out the function of the President of the Republic of Serbia.
