President Nikolic receives Zuroff, SPC Archbishop John, Ruta Vaganaite

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Thursday received the director of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, Efraim Zuroff, Archbishop John of Pakrac and Slavonia of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) and Ruta Vaganaite, a Lithuanian writer and author of the book Our People.

They discussed progress in transforming the site of the former Staro Sajmiste Nazi concentration camp into a memorial complex and the work of an Orthodox-Catholic commission set up to establish historical facts about the role of Aloysius Stepinac during WWII.

President Nikolic devoted particular attention to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew's upcoming visit to the former Ustasha concentration camp Jasenovac, the largest massacre site of Serbs, Jews and Roma killed in the former Yugoslavia in WWII.

Earlier today, Zuroff also met with FM Ivica Dacic and Minister of Veteran Affairs Aleksandar Vulin.
