President Nikolic with the representatives of opposition parties

Belgrade, 20 December 2012 – President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić held separate meetings with the representatives of opposition parties concerning the Platform for the Resumption of Talks between Belgrade and Priština.

The first meeting was held with Democratic Party Leader Dragan Djilas, followed by Serbian Democratic Party Leader Vojislav Koštunica, Liberal Democratic Party Leader Čedomir Jovanović and Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians Leader Ištvan Pastor.

During the talks, the Serbian President underlined that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija was a historic one, over which the broadest possible consensus of all relevant political factors should be reached. The Platform for the negotiations is primarily based on the preservation of the territorial integrity of Serbia, the Serbian people living in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as Serbian churches and monasteries.

The opposition representatives informed the President of the Republic that they would present the Platform for the Resumption of the Belgrade – Priština negotiations to their party members. Opposition party representatives will communicate their support of the Platform, along with the possible suggestions, within the next few days.
