"The hospital in Kruševac is a monument of the future, and it will talk about the accomplishments we made in a short time, in a difficult time for our people. I am proud of Serbia, of the people who worked here in Kruševac and only in four months - as in Batajnica - finished something that looks magnificent. They worked day and night and did a great job; there will be 500 beds here, 150 in intensive care, with 150 monitors, respirators. This is what remains for the city of Kruševac and Serbia. A small number of countries and nations can do that so well, quickly and with quality," said President Vučić, adding that work remains to be done on other facilities to make additional logistics, but intensive and semi-intensive care units have been completed.

President Vučić said that, unlike before, when the public procurement lasted a year and a half to change the linoleum in the elevator, a hospital was built in just four months.

"We have done a fantastic thing here that will cover not only Kruševac, but also the northern part of Raška district, a significant part of Moravica district, and the southern part of Šumadija and Toplica districts until we finish the hospital in Prokuplje. We will also have some patients from Kosovo and Metohija here. We do not ask if they are Serbs or Albanians, but it will be primarily from the north of the province," he said.

During the visit, President Vučić also talked with the handcraft workers who were engaged in the construction of the hospital, the welders from Obrenovac, whom he thanked for hard work and all the efforts invested.

"There are already 530 patients in Batajnica. Imagine we don't have Batajnica and so many places. Now we have a facility in Kruševac, and we will save many lives with this. When we started building, some people said why we were wasting money when the coronavirus gets defeated, but luckily someone thought ahead. On this foggy day, I am proud of our country and the wonderful people who have done this. This is of great importance; this saves us dozens of lives every day," he emphasised.

The first patients will be admitted tomorrow, early in the morning. The new COVID hospital in Kruševac covers the surface area of 12,500 square meters. It is located on the site of the former "Rasina" military barracks. About 600 doctors, nurses and other medical staff got jobs in it, and it will be under the jurisdiction of Clinical Centre Niš.

Before the opening of the hospital, President Vučić laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fatherland Defenders 1998-1999, erected in memory of the heroic 125th Motorized Brigade fallen fighters.

"Among the Serbian heroes who lost their lives in Kosovo and Metohija, 38 of them died in the battle of Košare. Serbia remembers," the President said.
