"A lot of energy and work was invested by our army in the previous year, especially because of the coronavirus pandemic, and it was one of the most important institutions, especially in admitting our people from abroad. Unfortunately, 19 members of the army lost their lives. On this occasion, I want to express my condolences to the families," said President Vučić. He pointed out that a lot has been done to improve combat readiness, and that this year special attention will be paid to the form of electronic warfare. Thus, in addition to drones, procurement of radar systems will also be worked on.

"We have worked a lot on the purchase of the most advanced weapons and equipment. We have identified our shortcomings. We want to keep members of the Serbian Army in our ranks as long as possible. Salaries are growing in Serbia, and when the army falls behind this trend and does not go ahead - that remains one of our biggest problems," explained President Vučić and announced an increase in income for soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers this year, with a 5% increase from the beginning of the year to the additional 10 per cent.

"We have analysed all the possibilities of compromising the security of the Republic of Serbia, in all geostrategic and military-strategic and military-tactical directions. We also analysed our actions in case of aggression against our country. I am satisfied with the work, the commitment, the morale, the fighting spirit of our people, the energy they display. We still have to do much, but our army represents a factor in preserving stability and peace. There will be large investments in our army. We have also opened the topic of compulsory military service, but we will discuss this in the coming months and years," concluded President Vučić.
