Meeting with officials of the US Department of State

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met in New York with the officials of the US Department of State - Acting Assistant Secretary Philip Reeker and Special Envoy to Western Balkans Matthew Palmer.

The interlocutors agreed that Serbia and the USA have intensified political dialogue and economic cooperation.

They also discussed the possibility to remove the obstacle for continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština. President Vučić said that Serbia is ready to reestablish the dialogue upon abolishment of taxes on Serbian goods as it genuinely seeks to achieve a substantive and sustainable compromise in the solution of the Kosovo and Metohija issue. "Such compromise should observe and recognise the interests of the Serbs who live there as well as the preservation of the state and national interests of Serbia", emphasised President Vučić.

The President of Serbia and the US officials also tackled the situation in the Western Balkans and agreed that peace and stability are of indispensable importance for the political and economic progress as well as for the European path of the entire region.
