Meeting with the Ambassador of the United States of America

President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, met today with the Ambassador of the United States of America, Christopher Hill, to discuss the improvement of bilateral relations, energy diversification, European integration of Serbia, as well as current geopolitical issues and regional integration initiatives.

The President emphasised Serbia's efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region, noting that our country has positioned itself as a reliable and responsible partner, committed to political dialogue and the further development of regional relations in all areas, thanks to its consistent and serious policy.

In this regard, the President stated that Serbia is the initiator of numerous projects that best connect the Western Balkan countries, and that it is thus recognised as a proactive partner to all who want to work sincerely and with committment on the region's progress.

Ambassador Hill reiterated US support for the European integration of Serbia and the countries of the region, as well as the position of the United States that the European Union should expand.

"We also support the Open Balkans initiative and are ready to assist in its more rapid development," Ambassador Hill said, adding that the US will always support efforts to deepen regional economic cooperation in ways that promote integration with the European Union.

Concerning the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the interlocutors agreed that all efforts should be directed toward the EU facilitated dialogue, because it is the only way to resolve outstanding issues and reach a sustainable agreement.

Ambassador Hill stated that the US will continue to engage with European Union partners to support the continuation of the dialogue that will bring tangible results.Referring to a recent letter from US President Joseph Biden to President Vucic, Ambassador Hill reaffirmed his country's support for Serbia's efforts to diversify energy sources and engage in energy efficiency, emphasising that the US will work to provide Serbia with access to energy projects that are already underaway.
