Meeting with the Director General for Political Affairs at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met earlier today with the Director General for Political Affairs at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom Richard Moore to discuss the bilateral relations and the situation in the region.

President Vučić said that it is important for Serbia to reinforce the political dialogue with the United Kingdom, especially in the new circumstances that arise after the country's exit from the European Union. He also expressed interest in extending economic cooperation between the two countries. President Vučić thanked the United Kingdom for its continued support for Serbia's European integrations, but also stressed the need for a clear EU enlargement plan and a membership timeframe, as the process of European integration of the Western Balkans is essential for peace and stability in the region.

President Vučić conveyed to the British official the impressions of the Paris meeting and the possibilities for the continuation of the Belgrade-Priština dialogue and, in this respect, stressed that it was very important that the United Kingdom also asked the Priština authorities to abolish the taxes. He briefed the Foreign Office Political Director Moore on the initiative to implement the four freedoms - the movement of people, goods, services and capital - in the Western Balkans, launched together with the prime ministers of Albania and Northern Macedonia.

Political Director Richard Moore said he welcomed the efforts to stabilise relations in the region. He stressed that the Foreign Office encourages the strengthening of political dialogue between Serbia and the United Kingdom, and announced working visits which would help strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in various areas of common interest, including defence.
