President Vučić meets the UNESCO Director-General

President of the Republic of Serbia met earlier today with the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay to discuss the possibilities of a more comprehensive cooperation.

President Vučić rendered his support to the efforts of the Director-General Azoulay in preservation of the fundamental values on which the work of UNESCO has been based and her efforts to prevent the politicisation of this organisation. President Vučić said that Serbia appreciates the UNESCO activities aimed at protection of the endangered Serbian historical, cultural and religious heritage in Kosovo and Metohija, as it is the heritage of the entire world.

President Vučić extended his support to various UNESCO programmes in all areas covered by this organisation, and especially in the field of education. The two interlocutors emphasised that it is important to prevent the negative impact of modern technologies on the education of the young generations.

The Director-General Azoulay said that Serbia - as the Executive Board member - represents huge support to her efforts in seeking UNESCO reforms.
