President Vučić visits agricultural holding

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić visited today the agricultural farm of Dejan Matić, a tobacco producer from Golubinci in Srem. After visiting the farm, President Vučić talked with the management of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and tobacco producers who have a contract with this company about the successful completion of the tobacco harvest season in 2020 and the achieved record yields on this crop.

"They did a great and successful job, I am delighted that I was able to be a guest of their wonderful family today, and I believe that little Aleksandra and Tomislav will continue the job," said President Vučić after visiting the farm of Dejan Matić.

He thanked the management of Japan Tobacco International (JTI) for everything they do in Serbia and continuously expanded the network of its suppliers. The President noted that the company engages 250 households in Serbia in tobacco production, each employing between 40 and 60 seasonal workers. He added that the state would continue with exceptional cooperation with JTI.

President Vučić pointed out that JTI realises an annual export of 300 million euros and that this company is one of our largest tax contributors.

He said that tobacco producers hire seasonal workers mainly Albanians from Preševo and many people from Negotin, which is a signal that the state must do more for the south and east of Serbia.

President Vučić noted that Japanese investors are increasingly expanding to Serbia and announced that the arrival of another Japanese investor in Novi Sad would be announced very soon and officially. He reminded of the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the Japanese Toyo Tires factory in Inđija.

"Where the Japanese are, there is seriousness and responsibility, and our people behave extremely responsibly," he emphasised.

The President noted that the roads in Vojvodina are in a relatively poor condition and that in that sense some projects will be added to the 'Serbia 2025' plan and that in addition to the construction of the Novi Sad - Ruma highway, the highway Belgrade - Zrenjanin will be built, but also many regional and local roads will be built in Vojvodina.

"We will invest much money into roads construction, and that will mean a lot for investors as well," concluded President Vučić.
