Congratulations on the occasion of the Russia Day

At today's reception at the Embassy of the Russian Federation on the occasion of marking the Russia Day, the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić presented Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko with a congratulatory letter for President Vladimir Putin. The congratulation reads as follows:

"Estimated Mr President, dear friend,

I cordially congratulate you and the fraternal Russian people on the Russia Day - a national holiday celebrating peace and freedom, in honour of the modern Russian state.

Russia Day is deeply regarded by your true friends - such as us in Serbia - who respect the centuries-old glorious history of Russia, in which the heroism and victories of many generations are woven, while, at the same time, we rejoice in the successes of today's Russia. That is why, on today's holiday, I wish you to continue to lead the Russian state and the Russian people on the path to a magnificent future.

The strategic partnership between Serbia and Russia and the strong friendship of our two fraternal nations are based on mutual respect and trust, on a relationship that is similarly said in both Serbian and Russian - časna družba. Serbia will continue to develop diverse cooperation with Russia, to the benefit of all our citizens.

We are sincerely grateful for Russia's active support to the state and national interests of Serbia based on the principles of international law and justice. Serbia is privileged by the closest friendship with Russia, just as I am honoured by our personal relationship of mutual respect.

Allow me to avail myself of this opportunity to thank you for the invitation to attend the jubilee Victory Parade on 24th June. It is a great honour to partake in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the victory over fascism. Proud of the fact that the Serbian and Russian people, committed to the tradition of freedom, stood on the same side of law and justice in the Second World War, our task is to fight against the rewriting of history. There is no more important mission than preserving the hard-won freedom, peace and stability, and we will fight for the truth to persevere.

Until we meet next, please accept, dear President, cordial greetings and assurances of my deepest considerations", reads the congratulation of President Vučić.
