Meeting with His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia Irinej. In an open and contentful conversation, President Vučić informed the Patriarch about the negotiations on Kosovo and Metohija held in Washington and Brussels earlier this month, as well as about the talks held with world statesmen. They also discussed the position of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, in Montenegro, Croatia, Republic of Srpska, but also in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Particular attention was paid to the announcement of many ambitious projects for the future of Serbia. His Holiness the Patriarch expressed specific interest in the state's investments in improving the health system and notably commended the fact that the government has rapidly launched the reconstruction of 10 general hospitals, construction of a new Clinical Hospital Centre of Serbia in Belgrade, and two large COVID-hospitals in Belgrade and Kruševac. The President said that this was only the first phase and that the reconstruction of another 30 general hospitals ishas been planned for as well as the construction of clinical centres in Novi Sad and Kragujevac.
The meeting was attended by the Vicar Bishop Stefan of Remesiana, the personal secretary to the Patriarch Dejan Nakić, and Secretary-General of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Nikola Selaković.
