Meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met earlier today with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko to discuss the organisation of the visit of the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and the joint marking of the notable jubilee - the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade in the Second World War.

President Vučić emphasised that in addition to remembering the glorious freedom-loving tradition of the two people, the visit of Prime Minister Medvedev will also purport a step forward in expanding the bilateral cooperation as the signing of new inter-state documents is also expected.

President Vučić expressed his gratitude for the message of support conveyed to the state and national interests of our country by the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov during the meeting in New York last week. „It indicates that relations between Serbia and Russia are governed by mutual understanding and deep trust which results from the intensive political dialogue", agreed the two interlocutors.

President Vučić and Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko also tackled the regional situation and expressed hope that peace and stability will be preserved in the Western Balkans.
