Meeting with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation

President of the Republic of Serbia met earlier today with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.

President Vučić expressed satisfaction that his very intense dialogue with President Putin continued into early 2020. He also said that his participation in the inauguration of the "TurkStream" pipeline in Istanbul presented him with the opportunity to discuss with the Russian President various global developments that have an impact on the world economy and energy security, but was convinced that the Serbian economy and households would have a secure gas supply.

President Vučić said he was particularly honoured to be attending this year's grand celebration of the 75th anniversary of the May 9 victory in Moscow and noted the joint commitment of the fraternal peoples of Serbia and Russia to the famous libertarian tradition. Also, for three days, the Presidents of both countries will jointly participate in the Fifth World Holocaust Forum at the Yad Vashem Memorial Center in Israel.

President Vučić expressed confidence that he would also have a fruitful cooperation with the new Russian Prime Minister Mishustin, based on the understanding and trust he had with the former Prime Minister Medvedev.
Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko announced a visit by a senior Russian official next month. The visit continues the intense political dialogue between Serbia and Russia, which delineated the previous year. The two interlocutors agreed that such high-level dialogue was an expression of a mutual wish for comprehensive progress in bilateral cooperation.

President Vučić and Ambassador Botsan-Harchenko stated that the implementation of joint infrastructure and energy projects were well implemented and at the same time considered concrete proposals for closer cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as in the civil society domain.

In addition to bilateral relations, the two interlocutors also tackled the regional situation, including Kosovo and Metohija and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
