Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic Nikos Dendias.

President Vučić said that Serbia attaches great importance to the relations with Greece, which are based on a firm friendship, historically confirmed closeness and solidarity between the two nations.

„We highly appreciate the consistent and principled position of Greece on the non-recognition of Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence. We are grateful to Greece for the interest it presents in the Belgrade-Priština dialogue, as well as for its support to the implementation of the Brussels Agreement“, said President Vučić, expressing his hope that Greece will continue to support Serbia's position in international organizations, while upholding the basic principles of international law and the UN Charter.

„Full EU membership remains to be at the top of Serbia's foreign policy priorities. We are convinced that the soonest possible integration of all Southeast European countries into the EU is the only real guarantee for the lasting and sustainable stabilisation of the whole region“, said President Vučić, adding that he appreciates the principled position of Greece on this issue and its active involvement in accelerating the process of European integration of Serbia, as well as that of other countries in the region.

President Vučić emphasized that the visit of Minister Dendias is of particular importance as a preparation for the third meeting of the High Council for Cooperation between Serbia and Greece to be held in December this year in Athens. "We expect the Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership to be signed at the forthcoming meeting, which would formalise the highest level of cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the Hellenic Republic," said President Vučić, pointing out that Serbia is greatly interested in improving economic cooperation with Greece, especially in the fields of transportation and energy infrastructure.

President Vučić accepted with pleasure the invitation of President Prokopis Pavlopoulos to visit Greece on the 10th of December this year.
