Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to discuss bilateral relations and economic cooperation.

President Vučić expressed the gratitude for the principled position of the Republic of India on the non-recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia. More than 70 companies from India operate in Serbia, and there are many more that are interested in investing in Serbia, especially in the fields of agriculture, IT industry and tourism. "The abolition of visas for Indian citizens has resulted in a significant increase in the number of Indian tourists in Serbia," said President Vučić.

He emphasized that this visit holds particular importance given that this is the first visit of an Indian Foreign Minister after more than two decades, and stressed that Serbia is proud of the fact that the two countries have a long tradition of mutual relations. President Vućić congratulated the jubilee - the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most prominent political leaders and thinkers who has significantly influenced international relations in recent times. President Vućić conveyed his greetings and an invitation to the Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi to visit Serbia.

Minister Jaishankar emphasised that further comprehensive development of economic cooperation, through the promotion of trade and investment cooperation, remains to be one of the priorities in the relations between the two countries
