Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met earlier today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Miro Cerar to discuss intensifying of the overall bilateral cooperation, especially in the area of economy, as well as the regional relations and the Eurointegration process of Serbia.

President Vučić emphasised that deepening of political dialogue remains crucial for strengthening of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries. This is demonstrated by the Joint Session of the Governments of Serbia and Slovenia to be held in mid-December in Serbia, as well as by the forthcoming visit of the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Marjan Šarec.

The two interlocutors noted that both countries are genuinely interested in maintaining the stability of the Western Balkans, its European perspective, and in extending the dialogue at all levels.

"We welcome the active involvement of Slovenia in the Western Balkans region through its participation in the Berlin Process, as well as the continued informal meetings of officials within the Brdo-Brioni Process," said President Vučić, expressing his expectation that the Berlin Process would again focus on connections, especially in infrastructure, and on economic cooperation.

President Vućić emphasised that Slovenia is a particularly important economic partner of Serbia, with which we maintain stable economic courses, market connectivity and increasingly successful investment cooperation. He added that Serbia is set for further development of economic relations, and assessed that there is significant space for intensifying of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, tourism, infrastructure, transport, energy, environmental protection, development of small and medium-sized enterprises.

During his meeting with Minister Cerar, President Vučić iterated that since the beginning of the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština we have been facing major and serious problems in the implementation of the agreements reached, all due to obstructions made by Priština. Despite such behaviour of Priština, Belgrade remains essentially and firmly committed to resolving all outstanding issues through dialogue, in the interest of reconciliation and stabilization of the situation in the region.
