Meeting with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today in New York with the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to discuss the possibilities for the establishment of stronger ties between the two countries considering the history of good relations between Belgrade and Kinshasa from the times of the Non-Aligned Movement outsets.

President Vučić thanked President Tshilombo for the principled position of DR Congo regarding the non-recognition of the self-proclaimed independence of the so-called Kosovo which is particularly highlighted in voting against the membership of so-called Kosovo in international organisations.

The two interlocutors agreed that the most comprehensive possibilities for cooperation lie in the field of agriculture, energy, health welfare and education. President Vučić said that students from DR Congo can use the scholarships from the "World in Serbia" programme for education in our country.

President Tshilombo said that today's meeting represents a signal for him that Serbia seeks stronger ties with DR Congo and he accepted the invitation of President Vučić to visit our country soon.
