President Vučić receives credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Russian Federation

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić received earlier today the Letter of Credence from the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, appointed by President Vladimir Putin as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Serbia.

Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko conveyed the greetings of President Putin to President Vučić and the message on readiness of the Russian leadership to continue with the building of relations based on genuine trust with the Serbian President. Russian Ambassador also conferred the invitation of President Putin to President Vučić for participation in the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory to be held on the 9th of May next year in Moscow. President Vučić said it represents a huge honour for him personally, but also for the Serbian people who suffered horrendously under the fascist boot and who fought it audaciously together with the Russian and other freedom-striving people.

President Vučić said it is an exceptional honour that President Putin appointed Botsan-Kharchenko for the Ambassador to Serbia, as it reflects the attention President Putin dedicates to our country. He asked the Russian Ambassador to convey his greetings to President Putin and emphasized his contentment with the good relations with Russia as well as with the excellent personal relations with President Putin who is most deserving for expansion of the Serbian-Russian relations in all areas.

While wishing the Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko a welcome and success in his diplomatic mission, President Vučić expressed his confidence that he will give his full contribution with his large experience to even stronger relations between Serbia and Russia. He emphasized his expectations that the two countries will use the momentum for strengthening of cooperation induced by this year's visit of President Putin, through realisation of concrete projects in the fields of energetics, transportation infrastructure and high technologies.

With Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko, as an exquisite connoisseur of the region, President Vučić talked about the halt in the dialogue between Belgrade and Priština as well as about other trends in the Western Balkans. President Vučić expressed his concern about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the severe position of the Serbian people in our southern province.

Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko said it is a great honour and challenge for him to work in Serbia because he came to the country which maintains stable relations of strategic partnership with Russia, while the personal relation of deep trust between the two Presidents represents an additional advantage. He pointed out that Serbia can count on the steady support of Russia in the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty in line with the Resolution 1244 and international law.
