Telephone conversation with the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative and Head of the UN Mission in Kosovo and Metohija

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić spoke earlier today with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and the Head of the UN Mission in Kosovo and Metohija Zahir Tanin, primarily about the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in our country and the region.

Special Representative Tanin conveyed his regret for the victims of the contagious disease in Serbia and gave his support to President Vučić in combating its spread. President Vučić said he was concerned about the spread of the disease in Kosovo and Metohija. He expressed Serbia's determination to assist the Serb community in Kosovo and Metohija, but also its readiness for full cooperation with Albanians and joint work with representatives of the temporary institutions in Priština in halting COVID-19.

The two interlocutors also discussed the political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija in the light of the forthcoming session of the Security Council dedicated to the UN Secretary-General's report on the work of UNMIK, to be held via video conference.

President Vučić emphasised that Security Council sessions dedicated to the work of UNMIK are important for Serbia in maintaining the continuity of its consideration of Kosovo and Metohija issues, as well as in providing regular information on the political and security situation, which is far from stable.
