President Vučić hands over military flags to the Serbian Army brigades

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić attended the military flags handover ceremony on the occasion of establishing the 72nd Special Operations Brigade and the 63rd Parachute Brigade and said that today is a grand and solemn day because the flags are handed over to the two most elite units of our army that always served as the defence shield of the country.

"You have always taken the first and heaviest strikes, and you had always stood by your people when no one wanted to go to certain battlefields. Today, I am proud of the fact that I can pass the flags of pride and honour back to you," said President Vučić.

President Vučić told the units' members that they are the bravest and the best part of our people.

"These flags hold a symbol of freedom and independence, honour and face of Serbia. These flags must never fall into the hands of the enemy. With these flags, you received a pledge, an obligation, but also a warning for everyone - that as long as those flags are there, as they stand raised - Serbia also exists. And there is no better place for handing over the flags than in Takovo, than the place where Miloš raised the uprising," the President emphasised.

President Vučić said that Serbia is not summoning anyone to war today, but that it tells everyone clearly that it will preserve peace and stability and that it will be more powerful - "an unbreakable nut for anyone who tries to crack it."

The ceremony in the "Second Serbian Uprising" Memorial Complex in Takovo was marked by a parade of 20 sub-echelons of troops and veterans of the 72nd Special Operations Brigade and the 63rd Parachute Brigade, a flypast by Serbian Army aircraft, parachute jumps, as well as a display of weapons and military equipment.
