President Vučić meets the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho Thomas Thabane and conveyed his satisfaction with the intensification of the political dialogue between Serbia and Lesotho as suited to two friendly countries.
President Vučić thanked Prime Minister Thabane for the support of Lesotho to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia demonstrated by the last-year decision to withdraw the recognition of so-called Kosovo and added that he hopes the support will be additionally expressed further on in international organisations. Prime Minister Thabane said that the support of Lesotho to Serbia is unconditional and defined by the acknowledgement of the UN decisions.
President Vučić said that Serbia fosters the previous Yugoslav policy of friendship towards Lesotho and other African countries. With that respect, the President reminded that the 25th May has been declared as the Friendship Day with the people of Africa so that Serbia can show in this way as well its readiness to strengthen the political, economic, cultural and other ties with African countries.
The two interlocutors observed the possible areas of cooperation between Serbia and Lesotho following the priorities of both countries and ascertained that the largest possibilities exist in the domains of agriculture, mining and tourism as well as in the area of defence. Options of rendering medical and humanitarian aid to the vulnerable groups of the Lesotho population have also been considered.
As for the cooperation in the area of education, President Vučić expressed his readiness to provide scholarships for education in our country for the students from Lesotho within the programme "Serbia and the World".
