Meeting with the UK Defence Secretary

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met today with the UK Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace, and said he hoped that, by joint efforts, Serbian-British relations would be raised to the level of true partnership we had as allies in both World Wars.

President Vučić pointed out that Serbia is interested in strengthening and enriching ties with the United Kingdom in all areas, including defence. In this regard, the importance of joint engagement of the Serbian and British armies' members within the UN Mission in Cyprus was highlighted. President Vučić also informed Minister Wallace about the favourable economic trends in Serbia, with the hope that the interest of British investors in our country would increase.

President Vučić and Secretary Wallace also discussed global issues, as well as the regional situation.

Secretary Wallace pointed out that the Western Balkans were very important for the United Kingdom, and that Serbia is of the greatest importance for peace and stability in the region. "Serbia will always be a solid support for a peaceful and stable Balkans," said President Vučić.
